About the Toyota Prius XW30
Introduced in 2009, the XW30 was the third generation of Toyota’s pioneering mass-market hybrid. A larger 1.8-litre petrol engine replaced the earlier 1.5, working with an electric motor and an electronically controlled CVT. Its distinctive wedge silhouette prioritised aerodynamics and cabin practicality over sporting feel. The XW50 successor followed in 2015.
