About the Sunbeam Alpine Series V
The Series V was the ultimate iteration of the Sunbeam Alpine, introduced in 1965 with a new five-main-bearing 1725cc engine. Replacing the earlier 1.6-litre units, this version offered improved reliability and enough flexibility to keep pace with contemporary rivals like the MGB. While it lacked the raw performance of the V8-powered Tiger, the Alpine was praised for its refinement, featuring roll-up windows and a comfortable interior that made it a superior grand tourer. Production ended in 1968 following Chrysler's takeover of the Rootes Group, marking the end of a classic era for the Sunbeam nameplate.
