About the Sunbeam Alpine Harrington Le Mans Series II
The Harrington Le Mans was created by coachbuilders Thomas Harrington Ltd to celebrate Sunbeam's success at the 1961 Le Mans 24 Hours. Based on the Alpine Series II, it replaced the standard convertible body with a sleek, fixed fiberglass fastback roof and deleted the rear fins for a more aerodynamic profile. The 1.6-litre engine was tuned by Hartwell, featuring a gas-flowed head and high-lift camshaft to produce significantly more power than the standard Alpine. It remains one of the most desirable Sunbeam variants due to its elegant styling, competition pedigree, and limited production numbers.
