Sauber C21
An evolution of the C20 with Ferrari power, the C21 held on to fifth place for Sauber as Felipe Massa made his debut in 2002.
About the Sauber C21
Willy Rampf and a 24-strong design team evolved the C21 from the successful C20, moving the radiators, revising the suspension and rear bodywork and fitting a more compact, lighter gearbox. Sauber continued to use rebadged Ferrari engines, a supply that cost £13 million for the year, but development was limited by the lack of an in-house wind tunnel. Nick Heidfeld and Felipe Massa scored a double points finish in Malaysia, Massa in only his second Grand Prix, but the team failed to score in the final five races. Sauber held fifth in the constructors' championship with 11 points, with Heinz-Harald Frentzen replacing Massa at Indianapolis.
