About the Renault 12
The Renault 12 was designed as a 'world car', engineered to be simple, robust, and comfortable for global markets. Launched in 1969, it featured a longitudinal front-wheel-drive layout with the engine placed ahead of the front axle, providing excellent interior space and a smooth ride. The TL trim was the mainstay of the range, offering a balance of economy and reliability that made it a common sight across Europe and South America. Its distinctive 'arrow' profile and soft long-travel suspension defined the French family motoring experience of the 1970s.
