About the Porsche 911 GT1
The 911 GT1 Straßenversion was born from the necessity to homologate Porsche's mid-engined Le Mans challenger for the GT1 class. Unlike its rivals which were modified road cars, the GT1 was a purpose-built racing prototype featuring a front section from a 993-generation 911 and a rear structure derived from the 962. The 3.2-litre water-cooled engine was slightly detuned for road use to meet European emissions standards but retained its ferocious performance. It remains one of the rarest and most sought-after Porsches ever produced, representing the pinnacle of 1990s endurance racing technology.
