About the Peel P50

Manufactured by Peel Engineering on the Isle of Man, the P50 remains the smallest production automobile ever made. It features a fibreglass monocoque body, a single headlight, and three wheels, with the engine mounted to the driver's right. Famously lacking a reverse gear, the car includes a chrome handle at the rear so the driver can physically lift and manoeuvre it into parking spaces. Its cultural status was cemented by a 2007 Top Gear segment where Jeremy Clarkson drove one through the corridors of the BBC.

Peel P50 rarity in CarSpot

The Peel P50 is a Unicorn card in CarSpot, with a rarity score of 100 out of 100. The rarest tier: hypercars, one-offs and cars built in tiny numbers, typically fewer than about 500. A Unicorn card is worth 320 XP.

Each model's tier starts from a 0–100 score based on its value plus its power or production numbers. Once enough players have spotted a model, how often it is spotted can move it up or down one tier. How CarSpot rarity works

Rarity is a collectible game mechanic, not an assessment of real-world scarcity or value.

Peel P50 fun facts

  • The P50 was advertised as being 'almost cheaper than walking' and could achieve up to 100 mpg.
  • In 1963, a P50 was taken to the top of Blackpool Tower in a lift and driven around the observation balcony as a publicity stunt.
  • Only about 27 of the original 50 cars are known to survive, making them highly prized by microcar collectors.
