About the Nissan Primastar
The first-generation Nissan Primastar was a key player in the medium van segment, born from a joint venture between Renault, Nissan, and Opel/Vauxhall. The 2006 facelift introduced the 2.0-litre dCi engine, which replaced the older 1.9-litre units to meet Euro 4 emissions standards while offering significantly improved torque. Known for its car-like driving position and practical square load bay, it was built alongside its siblings in Luton, UK, and Barcelona, Spain. While less common on UK roads than the Vivaro or Trafic, it was often the most competitively priced of the trio when new.

Nissan Primastar fun facts
- The Primastar was manufactured at both the GMM Luton plant in the UK and Nissan's own factory in Barcelona, Spain.
- The 2006 update's 2.0 dCi engine used a timing chain rather than a belt, improving long-term reliability for high-mileage operators.
- Despite being a Japanese-branded vehicle, the Primastar was almost entirely a European project, sharing its platform with the Renault Trafic II.
