About the Nissan 100NX
The Nissan 100NX, known as the NX1600 in North America, was a small front-wheel-drive coupe designed at Nissan's California studio. Based on the B13-generation Sunny/Sentra chassis, it prioritised style and usability over outright performance, featuring a distinctive T-bar removable glass roof as standard in many markets. The 1993 model year marked a significant update for the 1.6-litre variant, replacing the older carburetted engine with the fuel-injected GA16DE unit for improved efficiency and power. While it struggled to compete with the more popular Vauxhall Tigra and Ford Puma in the UK, its mechanical reliability and unique 1990s wedge styling have earned it a growing cult following among modern classic enthusiasts.
