About the Mercedes-AMG SL R232
The R232 generation marks a significant shift for the SL, moving from a Mercedes-Benz luxury cruiser to a dedicated Mercedes-AMG performance machine. Developed entirely by AMG in Affalterbach, it replaces both the previous SL and the AMG GT Roadster, featuring a return to a fabric soft top and a 2+2 seating layout for the first time since the R129. The SL 63 4MATIC+ utilizes a hand-built M177 V8 engine and introduces all-wheel drive to the model line, providing immense traction and all-weather capability. Its chassis features active roll stabilisation and rear-axle steering, aiming to balance long-distance grand touring comfort with the agility of a modern supercar.
