About the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 W167
The W167-generation GLE 63 S represents the pinnacle of Mercedes-AMG's performance SUV line-up, replacing the old 5.5-litre unit with a more efficient 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. It features the EQ Boost mild-hybrid system, which provides an additional 22 hp and 250 Nm of torque for short bursts while smoothing out the stop-start transitions. The W167 introduced the sophisticated AMG Active Ride Control, using electromechanical actuators to virtually eliminate body roll in corners. Despite its 2.5-tonne kerb weight, the GLE 63 S offers sports-car-rivalling acceleration and a high-tech MBUX interior, making it a versatile, albeit thirsty, daily driver for the performance-minded collector.
