About the Kia Soul AM

The first-generation Kia Soul, codenamed AM, was a pivotal model that helped shift Kia's brand image toward design-led products under Peter Schreyer. Its 'tall-boy' boxy silhouette offered significant interior space and a high seating position within a compact footprint. The 1.6-litre CRDi diesel engine was the preferred choice in European markets, providing better torque and efficiency than the petrol alternatives. While the ride was often criticised for being firm, the Soul's unique customisation options and quirky aesthetic earned it a loyal following.
