About the Kia Niro DE
The Kia e-Niro (DE generation) was a pivotal moment for electric vehicles, offering a real-world range that rivalled premium brands at a mainstream price point. Launched in the UK in late 2018, the 64kWh variant became famous for its efficiency, often exceeding its official 282-mile WLTP range in urban driving. The '3' trim, introduced for the 2020 model year refresh, added luxury features like leather upholstery and a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen. While its 77kW peak charging speed is modest by modern standards, its reliability and practical crossover packaging made it a multi-award winner and a frequent sell-out during its production run.
