About the KGM Rexton
The KGM Rexton represents the 2024 rebranding of the long-running SsangYong flagship, maintaining its traditional body-on-frame architecture in an era of unibody crossovers. As a heavy-duty SUV, it excels in utility, offering a 3.5-tonne towing capacity that rivals much more expensive luxury off-roaders. The Ultimate trim provides a surprisingly plush interior with Nappa leather and advanced digital displays, contrasting its agricultural but dependable diesel engine. While its road manners are less refined than car-based rivals, its genuine low-range gearbox and mechanical toughness make it a preferred choice for rural work and heavy hauling.

KGM Rexton fun facts
- The Rexton is one of the few remaining passenger vehicles in Europe to use a traditional ladder-frame chassis, similar to the Toyota Land Cruiser and Land Rover Defender.
- The name Rexton is a portmanteau of the Latin 'rex' (king) and the English 'tone', intended to mean 'the ruler's tone'.
- Despite its budget-friendly positioning, the Rexton's 8-speed automatic transmission is sourced from Hyundai Transys, the same supplier used by Genesis.
