About the Hyundai i800 TQ
The Hyundai i800, known globally as the H-1 or Starex, was a purpose-built passenger carrier derived from a commercial van platform. Unlike many rivals that used front-wheel drive, the i800 utilised a rear-wheel-drive layout, which provided better balance when fully loaded with eight passengers and luggage. The 2.5-litre CRDi engine was the sole powerplant, with the 170 PS variant specifically paired with an automatic gearbox to handle heavy-duty shuttle work. While its commercial roots are evident in the interior plastics and ride quality, its sheer volume and reliability made it a staple for large families and airport transfer fleets.
