About the Holden Sandman HQ

Introduced in 1974, the HQ Sandman transformed the humble Holden panel van into a lifestyle icon aimed at the youth market. It combined the utility of a commercial vehicle with the performance and styling of the Monaro GTS, featuring slotted front guards, a sports steering wheel, and full instrumentation. The 5.0-litre V8 variant offered genuine muscle car performance, making it a favourite for both long-distance cruising and the burgeoning surf scene. Today, genuine HQ Sandmans are highly prized by collectors for their cultural significance and rarity compared to later HJ and HX models.
