About the Ford Model K

The Model K was Henry Ford’s attempt to capture the high-end luxury market, featuring a massive 405 cubic-inch inline-six engine. It was the first Ford to use a six-cylinder powerplant, designed to compete with the prestigious marques of the era. Despite its impressive performance for 1906, the car was expensive and suffered from reliability issues, leading to a strained relationship between Henry Ford and his business partner Alexander Malcomson. Its commercial failure famously convinced Ford to pivot exclusively toward affordable, mass-market vehicles like the Model T.
