About the Ford Escape
The second-generation Ford Escape debuted for the 2008 model year with a more truck-like exterior design inspired by the larger Explorer and Expedition. While the chassis remained largely the same as the first generation, the interior received a significant upgrade in materials and sound insulation. The 2.3-litre Duratec engine served as the entry-level powertrain, offering a balance of fuel economy and adequate performance for urban commuting. This generation was notable for introducing Ford's electric power-assisted steering and the SYNC infotainment system, developed with Microsoft.
