About the Force India VJM02

Revealed after its first run at Silverstone in February 2009, the VJM02 switched late in development from Ferrari to Mercedes engines with McLaren gearboxes and hydraulics, forcing changes to the suspension, sidepods and rear aerodynamics. Mike Gascoyne and Colin Kolles, central to its early design, had left after a dispute with owner Vijay Mallya. Upgrades at the Bahrain and European Grands Prix improved it, and at Spa Giancarlo Fisichella took the team's first pole and finished second to Kimi Räikkönen. Adrian Sutil added fourth place and fastest lap at Monza, but those were the car's only points finishes, and Force India ended ninth.
