About the Fiat Brevetti

The Fiat Brevetti, named after the Italian word for 'patents', was born from Fiat's acquisition of the Ansaldi company in 1905. It represented a significant leap forward for the Turin firm, replacing the older chain-drive systems with a modern driveshaft and conical gear differential. The 3.1-litre four-cylinder engine was paired with a four-speed manual gearbox, a rarity at a time when most competitors offered only three. Its 'Torpedo' bodywork was equally innovative, featuring side doors and panels that sat flush with the chassis, setting a new standard for automotive aesthetics in the Edwardian era. Today, it is a highly prized veteran car, valued for its robust engineering and role in establishing Fiat as a global industrial power.

Fiat Brevetti rarity in CarSpot

The Fiat Brevetti is a Unicorn card in CarSpot, with a rarity score of 96 out of 100. The rarest tier: hypercars, one-offs and cars built in tiny numbers, typically fewer than about 500. A Unicorn card is worth 320 XP.

Each model's tier starts from a 0–100 score based on its value plus its power or production numbers. Once enough players have spotted a model, how often it is spotted can move it up or down one tier. How CarSpot rarity works

Rarity is a collectible game mechanic, not an assessment of real-world scarcity or value.

Fiat Brevetti fun facts

  • The Brevetti was one of the first cars to feature a multi-disc clutch, which provided much smoother engagement than the leather cone clutches common at the time.
  • Its name refers to the specific Ansaldi patents that Fiat acquired to build the car, marking a transition from bespoke builds to more standardised production.
  • While the standard engine was rated at 20 hp, the hand-built nature of early production meant some examples were recorded as producing up to 26 hp.
