About the Fiat 850 Spider

The Fiat 850 Spider is a diminutive rear-engined roadster that brought Italian style to the masses. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro during his tenure at Bertone, it features a clean, uncluttered profile and a clever metal tonneau cover that hides the soft top when folded. The 903cc 'Sport Spider' variant introduced in 1968 offered a modest power increase and distinctive 'frog-eye' vertical headlights to meet US regulations. While not fast, its light weight and rear-engine layout provide a nimble, engaging driving experience that captures the essence of 1960s Mediterranean motoring.
