About the Citroën C-Zero
Launched in 2010, the Citroën C-Zero was one of the first modern mass-produced electric cars available in Europe, developed alongside the Peugeot iOn and the Mitsubishi i-MiEV. Its narrow body and tall 'egg-shaped' design were inherited from the Japanese 'kei car' segment, making it exceptionally agile in tight urban environments. While its 16kWh battery offered a modest real-world range of around 50-60 miles, it featured CHAdeMO rapid charging, a rarity for its time. As a collector piece, it represents the early, experimental era of the 21st-century EV transition, though its appeal is primarily functional for city commuting.

Citroën C-Zero fun facts
- The C-Zero is essentially a rebadged Mitsubishi i-MiEV, adapted for the European market with minor styling changes to the front and rear bumpers.
- Despite its tiny footprint, the C-Zero features a rear-mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, which helps maintain a tight 9-metre turning circle.
- At launch in the UK, the car had a steep list price of nearly £29,000, which was later significantly reduced to encourage adoption.
