About the Chevrolet HHR
Launched for the 2006 model year, the Chevrolet HHR (Heritage High Roof) was General Motors' answer to the retro-crossover craze of the early 2000s. Designed by Bryan Nesbitt, who also penned the rival Chrysler PT Cruiser, its styling was heavily influenced by the 1947 Chevrolet Suburban and Advance Design pickups. Built on the GM Delta platform shared with the Cobalt, the HHR offered a versatile interior with a fold-flat front passenger seat and a plastic-lined cargo area. While the 2.4-litre Ecotec engine provided a useful power bump over the base 2.2-litre, the HHR was primarily valued for its distinctive looks and practical packaging rather than its driving dynamics.

Chevrolet HHR fun facts
- The HHR's designer, Bryan Nesbitt, was recruited by GM specifically after he designed the HHR's primary competitor, the Chrysler PT Cruiser.
- The 2.4-litre engine featured variable valve timing (VVT), a relatively advanced feature for a budget-friendly GM compact at the time.
- Despite its car-like handling and Cobalt-based platform, the HHR was technically classified as a light truck by the EPA to help GM meet CAFE fuel economy standards.
