About the Chevrolet C/K 454 SS
Introduced for the 1990 model year, the Chevrolet 454 SS was a high-performance derivative of the GMT400-platform C1500. It utilised a massive 7.4-litre V8 engine normally reserved for heavy-duty trucks, stuffed into a short-bed, regular-cab chassis. The 1990 model is distinguished by its Onyx Black paint, red interior, and unique blackout exterior trim with a front air dam and fog lights. While the three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 transmission and modest horsepower limited its top-end speed, the massive torque made it a formidable stoplight drag racer.
