About the Asia Rocsta
The Asia Rocsta is a compact off-roader derived from the K111 military vehicle used by the South Korean army. Launched by Asia Motors (a subsidiary of Kia), it was designed as a low-cost alternative to the Jeep Wrangler and Suzuki Samurai, featuring a body-on-frame construction and a part-time four-wheel-drive system. The 2.2-litre diesel engine, a licensed Mazda design, prioritised durability and low-end torque over refinement or speed. While its agricultural road manners and basic interior limited its mainstream appeal, it remains a cult classic for off-road enthusiasts seeking a simple, mechanical driving experience.

Asia Rocsta fun facts
- The Rocsta was so closely inspired by the Willys Jeep that it was often mistaken for a licensed copy, though it was actually a civilian version of a Korean military vehicle.
- Despite its short production run, the Rocsta helped popularise off-road racing in South Korea due to its affordability and ruggedness.
- In the UK, only about 900 units were ever sold before the brand was withdrawn in 1997, making it a rare sight on British roads today.
