Alpine A524

Rated the weakest car on the grid in early 2024, the A524 ended the year with a double podium in the São Paulo rain.

About the Alpine A524

Unveiled at Enstone on 7 February 2024 alongside the A424 sports prototype, the A524 lacked traction and downforce and began the season 11 kg over the 798 kg minimum after its monocoque was strengthened to pass a lateral load test it had failed. A lighter chassis arrived in China and results gradually improved, with Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon bringing the team back into the midfield. Ocon set Alpine's first fastest lap at the United States Grand Prix, and in the rain-affected São Paulo Grand Prix he and Gasly finished second and third. That 35-point weekend lifted Alpine from ninth to sixth in the Constructors' Championship, which it held to the end with 65 points.
