About the Alpine A522
The A522 was Alpine's first car for the 2022 regulations, designed under Pat Fry and Matt Harman and powered by the Mecachrome-assembled Renault E-Tech RE22, rated at more than 950 hp. Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon drove it, and it was regularly in the fight for points without troubling the top teams. Its top speed stood out, notably in Baku, where rivals struggled to catch it on the straights even with DRS. Despite reliability problems in several races, Alpine beat McLaren to fourth in the Constructors' Championship, its best result since 2018.
