About the Volvo XC40
The XC40 entered production in late 2017 as Volvo's first model on the Compact Modular Architecture platform. This entry uses the 2018 D4 AWD diesel with an eight-speed automatic, rather than later hybrid or electric versions. Its upright body and cleverly arranged cabin prioritise everyday usability, with a composed and comfortable driving character. The XC40 won the European Car of the Year award in 2018.
