About the Volvo C70 Mk1
The first-generation Volvo C70 was a departure from the brand's traditional angular styling, featuring a curvaceous body designed under Peter Horbury. Developed in a joint venture with TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing), it shared its platform with the 850 but featured a significantly stiffer chassis and more sophisticated suspension tuning. The 2.0T variant was primarily produced for markets with displacement-based tax brackets, such as Italy and the UK, offering a smoother, more relaxed driving experience than the high-pressure T5. While not a sharp sports car, it remains a highly regarded grand tourer noted for its exceptional seat comfort and high-quality interior materials.
