Renault R.S.19

Daniel Ricciardo's first Renault, strong on power circuits but held back by its aerodynamics and reliability.

About the Renault R.S.19

The R.S.19 was designed for 2019 under executive technical director Marcin Budkowski, with Rémi Taffin leading the powertrain side, and managing director Cyril Abiteboul called its engine gains the biggest since 2016. Daniel Ricciardo joined from Red Bull to partner Nico Hülkenberg, and the car was strongest on power circuits, taking sixth and seventh in Canada and fourth and fifth in Italy. Poor aerodynamics and reliability problems kept it in the midfield, and in eight races neither driver scored. Renault was also disqualified from one race after a Racing Point protest against its automatic brake balance system, but still finished fifth in the Constructors' Championship.
