About the Renault R.S.18
The R.S.18 was designed by a team led by chassis technical director Nick Chester under Bob Bell, with Rémi Taffin leading work on the Renault R.E.18 power unit, as the Enstone factory expanded to support the works effort. Nico Hülkenberg and Carlos Sainz Jr. reached Q3 in each of the first four races, and in Azerbaijan both cars passed the Red Bulls on the long straight before Sainz went on to finish fifth. Renault also scored at Monaco, Canada and France, and the car proved a vast improvement on the R.S.17. Renault finished fourth in the Constructors' Championship with 122 points, best of the teams behind the front-runners.
