About the Red Bull Racing RB12
Red Bull Racing's 2016 car used a customer Renault R.E.16 power unit rebadged as a TAG Heuer, following the breakdown of the team's relationship with Renault. Daniel Ricciardo started the season alongside Daniil Kvyat, who was swapped with Toro Rosso's Max Verstappen before the Spanish Grand Prix. Ricciardo took his first pole position at Monaco but lost the win to a pit stop in which his tyres were not ready, and later won in Malaysia, where Verstappen's second place gave the team its first one-two of the V6 hybrid era. From the Austrian Grand Prix onwards the RB12 was the best of the rest behind Mercedes, reaching the podium at every race except Italy and Abu Dhabi.
