About the Oldsmobile Alero
The Oldsmobile Alero was introduced in 1998 as a replacement for the Achieva, designed to attract younger buyers with its 'Precision Control' styling and European-influenced handling. It shared the GM N-body platform with the Pontiac Grand Am and was the last model to be developed and launched by Oldsmobile before General Motors shuttered the brand in 2004. The 2.4-litre 'Twin Cam' engine provided respectable performance for the era, though it was later replaced by the Ecotec unit. While not a performance icon, it represents the final chapter of America's oldest automotive brand.
