About the Oldsmobile Achieva
The Oldsmobile Achieva was introduced for the 1992 model year as a replacement for the Cutlass Calais, sharing the GM N-body platform with the Pontiac Grand Am and Buick Skylark. While often remembered as a mainstream rental-fleet staple, the 2.3-litre 'Quad 4' engine variants offered surprising performance for the era, featuring dual overhead cams and four valves per cylinder. The 1994 model year introduced a standard driver-side airbag and refined the engine's NVH characteristics. Though it lacked the prestige of its Japanese rivals, the Achieva's high-output engine options made it a sleeper in the sport compact segment.
