About the Minardi PS02
Designed by technical director Gabriele Tredozi and chief aerodynamicist Loïc Bigois, who joined from the defunct Prost team, the PS02 was a significant step forward from the PS01. It kept Minardi's titanium-cased gearbox, switched from pullrod to pushrod suspension and used the new Asiatech AT02 V10. Mark Webber finished fifth at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, but the car then suffered 14 retirements and Alex Yoong failed to qualify three times, briefly losing his seat to Anthony Davidson. Minardi finished ninth in the constructors' championship, level on points with Toyota and Arrows.
