Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance

The 2023 Mercedes whose minimal-sidepod concept never worked, leaving the team winless for the first time since 2011.

About the Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance

Mercedes designed the W14 with a higher ride height to reduce porpoising but launched it without conventional sidepods, and key team figures soon questioned the concept after a disappointing start. Its black livery came from leaving parts as unpainted raw carbon to save weight, rather than as the diversity statement of the W11 and W12. A major upgrade at Monaco reintroduced sidepods, and the car took its first double podium in Spain and its only pole with Lewis Hamilton in Hungary. Hamilton and George Russell scored eight podiums but no wins, and Russell crashed out of third place on the last lap in Singapore.
