About the Mercedes-AMG F1 W13 E Performance

Built for the new ground-effect regulations of 2022, the W13 was all-new apart from its drivetrain and ran an almost sidepod-less design from the Bahrain pre-season test. It suffered from porpoising and handling problems early in the season until significant upgrades arrived in Spain. Lewis Hamilton and new teammate George Russell regularly reached the podium, and Russell took his first pole in Hungary and his first win at the São Paulo Grand Prix, leading a Mercedes one-two. The W13 ended Mercedes' run of eight consecutive Constructors' Championships, and Toto Wolff said he wanted the cars shown at Brackley and Brixworth to remind staff every day how difficult the sport can be.
