About the Mercedes-AMG F1 W09 EQ Power+
James Allison's technical team evolved the W08 concept for 2018, keeping its 3,726 mm wheelbase, one of the longest on the grid, but running more rake at 1.2 degrees against Ferrari's 1.5 and Red Bull's 1.9. For the first time in the turbo hybrid era its Mercedes power unit was down on straight-line power to Ferrari, though a qualifying setting nicknamed 'party mode' drew plenty of attention. Lewis Hamilton won all 11 of the car's victories, while Valtteri Bottas collected seven of its ten fastest laps. Hamilton clinched his fifth title with two races to spare, and Mercedes sealed a fifth consecutive constructors' crown, matching a run of double titles previously achieved only by Ferrari.
