About the Mercedes-AMG F1 W05 Hybrid

Mercedes built the F1 W05 Hybrid for 2014, the first season of 1.6-litre V6 turbo hybrid power units, with a design team that included Bob Bell, Aldo Costa and Geoff Willis. Its PU106A Hybrid placed the compressor and turbo at opposite ends of the engine, a layout credited with advantages in packaging, aerodynamic efficiency and battery usage. Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg won 16 of the 19 races between them, took 18 pole positions and scored 11 one-two finishes, with Hamilton taking the drivers' title and Mercedes its first constructors' championship. Hamilton described it as the best car he had ever driven.
