About the McLaren MP4-28

Built for McLaren's 50th-anniversary season, the MP4-28 was designed under Paddy Lowe, Neil Oatley and Tim Goss and powered by a customer Mercedes-Benz 2.4-litre V8. Jenson Button and Sergio Pérez drove it in 2013. The team adopted pull-rod front suspension and reworked the sidepods and rear suspension, but its promising pace in winter testing turned out to come from a wrongly fitted suspension part that lowered the ride height. The car never qualified in the top five and ended McLaren's run of 64 consecutive points finishes at the Canadian Grand Prix, making 2013 the team's weakest season in 33 years.
