About the McLaren MP4-26

The MP4-26 was McLaren's 2011 car, driven by world champions Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button and powered by a Mercedes-Benz V8. Its most striking feature was a pair of high, L-shaped sidepods to guide airflow to the rear of the car, an idea taken further than on the Benetton B195 and Ferrari F310. After a difficult pre-season it arrived in Melbourne heavily revised, and it went on to win six races, three each for Hamilton and Button. Button won the Canadian Grand Prix, the longest race in Formula One history, by passing Sebastian Vettel on the final lap, and Hamilton's pole in Korea was the only one of 2011 not taken by a Red Bull.
