About the McLaren MP4-24
Revealed at Woking in January 2009, the MP4-24 lacked downforce in testing, and Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen were often at the bottom of the timesheets. By mid-season McLaren had just 13 points, and Eddie Jordan called it possibly the worst car McLaren had ever designed. A major upgrade from the German Grand Prix turned it around, and Hamilton won in Hungary and from pole in Singapore. Two further third places helped McLaren take third in the constructors' championship, a point ahead of Ferrari.
