About the McLaren MP4-19
The MP4-19 was McLaren's 2004 car, designed under Adrian Newey with a bespoke Ilmor-built Mercedes-Benz V10, and described as a 'debugged' version of the ill-fated MP4-18. It suffered eight retirements in the first seven races, so McLaren introduced the MP4-19B, an all-new car with a radically redesigned aerodynamic package, at the French Grand Prix. Results improved immediately, and Kimi Räikkönen gave the team its only win of the season at the Belgian Grand Prix. David Coulthard and Räikkönen finished fifth in the Constructors' Championship with 69 points, McLaren-Mercedes' lowest finish since 1996.
