About the McLaren F1 GTR

Developed at the request of privateer racers, the 1995 F1 GTR is the competition version of Gordon Murray's seminal supercar. Despite being restricted to 600hp to meet GT1 regulations—making it less powerful than the road car—it featured significant weight savings and enhanced aerodynamics. It famously secured an outright victory at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans, defeating purpose-built prototypes in treacherous wet conditions. Only nine examples were built to the original 1995 specification, including the Le Mans-winning prototype 01R.

McLaren F1 GTR rarity in CarSpot

The McLaren F1 GTR is a Unicorn card in CarSpot, with a rarity score of 100 out of 100. The rarest tier: hypercars, one-offs and cars built in tiny numbers, typically fewer than about 500. A Unicorn card is worth 320 XP.

Each model's tier starts from a 0–100 score based on its value plus its power or production numbers. Once enough players have spotted a model, how often it is spotted can move it up or down one tier. How CarSpot rarity works

Rarity is a collectible game mechanic, not an assessment of real-world scarcity or value.

McLaren F1 GTR fun facts

  • The F1 GTR was so close to the road car that it even retained the central driving position and the original BMW S70/2 engine block.
  • Because of air restrictors required by racing regulations, the GTR actually produced about 27hp less than the standard F1 road car.
  • The 1995 Le Mans winner, chassis 01R, was a last-minute entry and was actually a development prototype rather than a customer car.
