About the Maybach 62
Revived by Mercedes-Benz to compete with Rolls-Royce and Bentley, the Maybach 62 was the longer-wheelbase sibling to the 57, measuring 6.17 metres in length. It was designed primarily for chauffeured use, featuring fully reclining 'first-class' rear seats and an optional electrochromic glass roof. The Type 12 engine, a 5.5-litre twin-turbo V12, provided effortless torque to move its nearly three-tonne kerb weight with surprising pace. Despite its immense technical sophistication and hand-built quality, it struggled to match the brand prestige of its British rivals during its production run.
