About the Kia Sportage SL
The third-generation Sportage (SL) marked a significant turning point for Kia, moving away from its budget-oriented roots toward a design-led identity under Peter Schreyer. Its 'Tiger Nose' grille and sharp, modern lines helped it become a massive commercial success in Europe and the UK. The 1.7-litre CRDi engine was the volume seller in the UK, favoured for its balance of fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. While not a performance vehicle, its high equipment levels in '2' trim and industry-leading seven-year warranty made it a benchmark for value in the compact SUV segment.
