About the Ford Consul Capri
The Ford Consul Capri was a stylish two-door coupé derivative of the Consul Classic, designed by Roy Brown to bring American 'personal car' flair to the British market. Launched in 1961, it featured a pillarless roofline, quad headlights, and distinctive tail fins, though its complex production and high price led to a short life cycle. The 1.5-litre engine, introduced in 1962 to replace the fragile 1.3-litre unit, provided improved durability with a five-bearing crankshaft. Today, it is a rare and sought-after collector's item, prized for its unique 'shrunken Galaxie' aesthetics and status as the first European Ford to bear the Capri name.

- The car's styling was heavily influenced by the 1950s Ford Galaxie and Lincoln Continental, featuring a panoramic rear window and a 'Sunbird' development codename.
