About the Ferrari California
Launched at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, the California was a landmark model for Ferrari, introducing several firsts including a front-mounted V8, a dual-clutch transmission, and a folding metal hardtop. Designed by Pininfarina, it was conceived as a more approachable, daily-drivable grand tourer to attract new customers to the brand. The 4.3-litre F136 engine features a flat-plane crankshaft and direct injection, providing a sharp soundtrack despite its GT positioning. While initially criticised by purists for its softer setup, it proved a commercial success and paved the way for the modern era of usable Ferraris.
