About the Chevrolet Epica
The Chevrolet Epica, known as the Daewoo Tosca in its home market of South Korea, served as the brand's flagship saloon in Europe. It was designed to offer executive-level dimensions and equipment at a price point significantly lower than established rivals like the Ford Mondeo or Volkswagen Passat. The 2.0 VCDi variant features a common-rail diesel engine developed by GM Powertrain and VM Motori, providing a more torque-rich and efficient alternative to the unusual transverse straight-six petrol options. While it lacked the dynamic polish of European competitors, it gained a reputation for being a comfortable, well-equipped cruiser with a spacious cabin and a large boot.

Chevrolet Epica fun facts
- The Epica was one of the few front-wheel-drive cars to ever be offered with a transversely mounted straight-six engine, though this diesel trim uses a more conventional inline-four.
- In the UK, the Epica was only on sale for roughly two years, making it a relatively rare sight on British roads compared to its mainstream rivals.
- The 2.0 VCDi engine features a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) to help reduce lag and improve mid-range response.
