About the Chevrolet Cruze J300
The first-generation Chevrolet Cruze, internally designated J300, was a pivotal global product for General Motors, designed to replace the aging Cobalt and Lacetti models. Engineered primarily by GM Korea on the Delta II platform, it aimed to compete directly with the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus by offering a more sophisticated interior and improved ride quality. The 1.6-litre petrol variant served as the entry-level choice in many markets, including the UK, where it was praised for its solid build and high safety ratings. While not a performance car, its success in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) provided an unexpected sporting halo for the nameplate.
